Preparing Students For Success In A Rapidly Changing World

The world our students are growing up in is changing faster than ever before. According to the World Economic Forum, 22% of today's jobs are expected to be displaced by 2030, while 29% of the core skills required in the workforce will change over the same period. As technology continues to reshape how we live, work and learn, the question for educators is no longer simply what students need to learn, but how we prepare them to thrive in an increasingly uncertain future.

In this opening keynote, Scott Millar explores the capabilities, mindsets and experiences that will matter most in the years ahead. Drawing on insights from education, industry and emerging workforce trends, he will share practical strategies for connecting learning with the real world, helping students build confidence, curiosity and adaptability, and ensuring today's classrooms prepare young people not just for their first job, but for a lifetime of learning, opportunity and change.

Designing For Your Community

As schools prepare young people for an increasingly uncertain future, the most impactful ideas begin with a clear understanding of the students they're designed for.

In this opening workshop, educators will begin creating a learning experience, initiative or event they can implement in their own school community. By exploring the needs, strengths and opportunities within their context, attendees will identify a meaningful challenge to solve and lay the foundations for an idea that helps students build the confidence, capabilities and connections they'll need to thrive.

The Future Starts Here: Preparing Our Students For What's Next

The future is changing faster than ever before, creating new opportunities, new challenges and new possibilities for young people as they think about their futures.

As educators, how do we help students build the confidence, curiosity and capabilities to navigate a world that continues to evolve?

Bringing together leaders from education, industry and the community, this conversation will explore practical ways schools can build ambition, connect students with meaningful opportunities and equip the next generation with the skills and mindsets they'll need to thrive, wherever their future takes them.

If you've got questions about what to expect on the day, we've got you covered with some answers below:

I Don’t Lead Innovation Or Big School Projects, Will This Still Be Relevant For Me?

Absolutely. This day is designed for educators at all stages, whether you are leading a whole-school initiative, refining a classroom approach, or simply looking for fresh ideas that better engage young people in learning. The sessions are practical, accessible and designed to help you strengthen what you are already doing in a way that fits your own context.

Do I Need To Be Confident With Digital Tools To Attend?

Not at all. While digital tools will be explored during the day, the focus is on how they can support great learning rather than replace it. Sessions are designed to be practical and accessible, with ideas that can work whether you are highly confident with digital platforms or just beginning to explore new approaches.

I Don’t Have A Big Project Or Program Yet, Will This Still Be Useful?

Definitely. Many educators attend with a challenge they are noticing, an area they want to improve, or simply a curiosity about what others are doing. The day is designed to help you identify opportunities, generate ideas and leave with something practical you can continue refining back at school.

What Will I Leave With At The End Of The Day?

You will leave with practical ideas, fresh perspectives and something tangible to build on, whether that is a refined lesson, a new program idea, a stronger understanding of your learners, or new connections with educators, industry and community voices who can support your thinking moving forward.
